A Great Cheese Grater

July 8, 2000

Dorie Greenspan writes the monthly "Tools of the Trade" column for Bon Appétit magazine and loves gadgets. But unlike most of us when it comes to cheese graters, Dorie's gadget drawer isn't littered with multiple varieties. She's a one-grater woman since discovering the Microplane rasp-type grater. It's modeled on a woodworker's rasp, it's precise, costs about $18, and you'll never need another. The razor-sharp holes produce precision-cut cheese and do a fine job with lemon zest, too. For more information, visit the Microplane Web site.
