Quick Fixes for Kitchen Lighting
by Deborah Krasner'
January 2, 1999
Deborah says most kitchen lighting consists of one fluorescent fixture in the middle of the room and no task lighting at all. Here are some of her quick-fix tips:
1. Replace the fluorescent bulb with a full-spectrum bulb and put a shade on it.
2. Add some task lighting. The most inexpensive are wall-mounted clips that allow you to position light where you need it. Aim the light in front of you and never put a clip light near the sink!
3. Consider under-counter halogen lights. They can be easily wired and give wonderful bright light.
4. Put lighting on dimmer switches to allow different brightness levels in different areas.
