When you're a guest at someone's holiday table, wine wit Josh Wesson says to think "bookends" - the starters and the dessert - when deciding what wines to take. Here are some ideas:
- Pre-Dinner Bubblies:
- Cava Cristallino: It's difficult to stop drinking this light and lemony sparkler from Spain. Better take two bottles! About $12.
- Domaine Chandon Blanc de Noir: Bright fruit and a delicate salmon color. From California and priced about $20.
- Taltarni Brut Tache: This zesty sparkling wine from Australia has a rosy hue. It's what Josh is serving this year. About $24.
- After-Dinner Sippers:
- Montevina Zinfandel Port: a great example of this fortified wine from California.
- Lustau Solera Superior Rare Cream Sherry: Josh says…"the best cream sherry on the planet!" About $18.
