Chardonnay Suggestions
by Mary Ewing Mulligan
October 19, 1996

Now that autumn is here, there is no better time to sample the array of fine chardonnays available. Below is a list of some of Mary Ewing-Mulligan's favorites. She is the author of Wine for Dummies, published by ICP.

FRANCE
Brand: Baron Philip de Rothschild ($8-9)

Brand: George deBoeuf ($6-7)
Chardonnays from the Maconaisse region of France, specifically the villages of St. Veran and the village of Macon.

ITALY
Brand: Cavit
Bolla Chardonnay ($6-8)

AUSTRALIA
Look for wines with the description on the label - "unwooded," or wines aged in ceramic, stainless steel or glass containers, which give wine a light, fresh and fruity taste - as opposed to the richer, oaky flavors of wine aged in wood barrels.
