Wine Magazines
by Mary Ewing Mulligan
December 5, 1998

Master of Wine Mary Ewing Mulligan suggests a gift subscription to a wine magazine for the wine enthusiast on your gift list. There's one here for every level of interest and expertise:

Wine Magazine and Decanter: These British publications are geared to the serious student of wine. Both are academic and a pleasure to read.

Wine Spectator: The largest, most well-known publication offers 22 issues a year and is essential reading for those in the wine trade. A noteworthy feature is their rating system.

Wine Enthusiast: This is the magazine for the neophyte -- a lighter read than Wine Spectator with less emphasis on ratings.

Wine & Spirits: The most serious of the American publications -- Mary think of it as the New Yorker of wine magazines. The long, thoughtful articles are for those who like to read.

Wine News: Published in Coral Gables, Florida, this magazine offers a nice mix of practical information and in-depth articles on wine regions.
