Wines to Drink with Sweet Corn
August 16, 2003
Listen to this feature (RealAudio; how to listen)
When August rolls around, wine wizard Joshua Wesson of Best Cellars says to think chenin blancs and New World chardonnays from Australia and California when choosing wines to celebrate the arrival of sweet corn on the cob. Consider these pairings:
Simonsig from South Africa (about $10) is Josh's favorite chenin blanc at the moment.
Hope Estate Chardonnay from South Africa (about $14) with grilled corn on the cob.
Kendall Jackson Vintner's Estate Chardonnay (about $10) with boiled corn on the cob.
Domaine Chandon's sparkling Chandon Riche with corn chowders and creamed corn. It's full-bodied, extra dry and just right.
