Joshua Wesson of Best Cellars, has unearthed some very respectable bottles from producers in places you'd never expect, like Idaho, Missouri, and New Jersey. Give these a try for surprisingly good sipping:

From Missouri: Mt. Pleasant Wines produces what Josh calls "world class" Port

From New Jersey: Josh loves the Cabernet from Cape May Winery
