El Charro
February 19, 2000
Listen to this feature (RealAudio 3.0; how to listen)
El Charro, in business since 1922 and still under the same family’s ownership, offers wonderfully fresh Mexican-American food. Don’t miss the carne seca tenderloin of beef marinated in lemon and garlic and air-dried in a cage that hangs above the patio. Its fabulous aroma fills the air and tacos, enchiladas, burritos, and chimichangas. Another specialty is the Topopo Salad. "Topopo" means volcano and, appropriately, the salad is a conical monument of shredded lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, shredded chicken and olives served on a tostada.
