For authentic Pennsylvania Dutch food, the Sterns say take Exit 36 West off I-81in Frackville, Pennsylvania, and stop at the Dutch Kitchen. Everything is homemade, like Ham Stew with Homemade Noodles, and served with the classic "seven sweets and seven sours." A precursor of sorts to the salad bar, these are side dishes like pickled beets and chow chow (sours), and seven different kinds of sweets, including a wonderful wet-bottom Shoo-Fly Pie.
