George and Pink's Vegetable Stand, located on laid-back Edisto Island off the coast of South Carolina, has to be counted among the world's great produce stands. Pink, a native Edistonian, has been in the vegetable business for 25 years and claims the island's soil is what makes the produce so exceptional. Everything sold at their stand is grown here and the mild coastal climate enables year-round production. While you're visiting the island, stop by The Old Post Office Café for wonderful shrimp, oysters, and creamy grits. It's Lowcountry cuisine at its finest, and they feature produce from George and Pink's.
