Jane and Michael say New Englanders take their ice cream very seriously. They should know - they’re New Englanders themselves! Here are some of their favorites.
Dr. Mike’s
Bethel, CT
Jane says this tiny shop has "the best ice cream in the entire world", especially the chocolate lace and cream – simply sweetened cream with dark chocolate lace candy. It’s super, super premium ice cream at Dr. Mike’s and you’ll be disappointed with all others after this one.
Four Seasons
Centerville, MA
This spot still has counter stools and big silver cabinets bearing tons of dents. The old-fashioned flavors like vanilla pudding and "claret topping" are very Bostonian.
Bishop’s
Littleton, NH
The old Victorian house setting of Bishop’s is very soothing – almost meditative – and the ice cream is excellent.
