Lupie's is one of the hidden treasures of Charlotte. This homey, folksy eatery off the beaten path has a real community feel and the locals who gather there are friendly.
Jane and Michael claim the southern squash casserole alone is worth a trip, but other goodies lie in store. The traditional vegetable plate offers fabulous carrots and some of the best mac 'n cheese to be had anywhere (it's considered a vegetable in the south!). Don't miss the chili. It comes Cincinnati style (served over spaghetti), Texas style (no beans) and vegetarian. Then there's the Jane-and-Michael custom special: Texas chili served over Lupie's mac 'n cheese!
