Niecie's is one of those comforting and reassuring Midwest Soul Food treasures that are as much a community center as a restaurant. The Sterns stopped by for breakfast along with what seemed to be half the preachers in Kansas City. (Jane claims that places where the local clergy, police officers and firemen eat are a sure bet.)
Breakfast might be the classic chicken and waffles doused with butter and maple syrup; pancakes, country ham, eggs and grits; and, above all, the absolute greatest fried pork chops. For a true pig epiphany try the pig ear sandwich for lunch.
