At this lower East Side establishment founded in 1888, the size and quality of meat in the sandwich you get depends on your rapport with the counterman. If it's good, you could get a hand-sliced three-quarter pounder! The Sterns say to look for Krinski at the counter - he's a true curmudgeon!

At 6 inches tall, this is probably the "highest" hot pastrami in New York City! The meat is usually machine sliced, but if your waitress is in a good mood you can request hand sliced.
