San Marcos Café
April 5, 2003
Listen to this feature (How to listen)
You have to see the San Marcos Café, located on The Turquoise Highway in Cerrillos, Mexico, to believe it. This is one zany place. An assortment of live poultry—pea hens, chickens, wild turkeys—wanders about the yard, and a rooster named Buddy was the maître d' until his recent demise. Go to see the birds, stay for the food. The top-notch breakfasts feature almond scones, flaky cinnamon buns, and homemade smoked chicken sausage. Mexican food is the bill of fare at lunch.
