Classic Seafood Restaurants in Manhattan
January 28, 2006

Mike Colameco, our go-to guy for where to eat in New York City, weighs in with his picks for the best seafood.

Le Bernardin
155 West 51st
The Equitable Building
Between 6th and 7th Avenues
New York, NY
212-554-1515
It's French and all about exquisitely prepared fish at Chef Eric Ripert's internationally renowned four-star restaurant in Midtown Manhattan.

Esca
402 West 43rd Street (at 9th Avenue)
New York, NY
212-564-7272
Esca is the superstar Chef Mario Batali's foray into seafood with an Italian twist. Absolute freshness reigns here so the menu changes daily depending on what's best from the sea.

Pearl Oyster Bar
18 Cornelia Street
New York, NY
Phone
212-691-8211
Chef Rebecca Charles could be credited with bringing the lobster roll to Manhattan. There were none to be found when she opened her restaurant in 1997. Along with New England clam chowder, fried oyster rolls, little neck clams, salt-crusted shrimp and Prince Edward Island mussels, Pearl Oyster Bar is akin to coastal Maine in Greenwich Village.
