Prune is Chef Gabrielle Hamilton's small (literally) gem of a place in the East Village. The name has nothing to do with the fruit — it was the chef's childhood nickname. Make a reservation if you can for dinner or the popular brunch; otherwise, get there early for the first seating or expect a wait.
