Alternatives to Beaujolais Nouveau
by Joshua Wesson
October 23, 1999

Every year on the third Thursday in November the Beaujolais Nouveau is released, with great fuss and to-do, all over the world. Joshua Wesson of Best Cellars says you can beat the rush before this date by drinking nouveau-style wines available now. Some attractive selections include:

Beringer Gamay Nouveau: Based on the same Gamay grape as Beaulolais Nouveau but fruitier and simpler.

Zinato Bardolino Novello: This delicious wine is a first cousin to Beaujolais Nouveau.

Navarro Nouveau Gewürztraminer: Serve this young white wine slightly chilled.
