Harmon's Lunch
September 24, 2005
When you enter this little eatery the bold sign behind the counter says it all: "This is not Burger King. You don't get it your way. You take it my way, or you don't get the damn thing."
What you get is a griddled hamburger served with onions cooked so long they turn to marmalade, and a slice of cheese if you want. There's mustard and red relish, but don't ask for lettuce and tomato. They don't have any. Be prepared to wait if you want the first-rate fries. They're freshly cut and cooked to order in small batches.
Don't want a hamburger? You're nearly out of luck. The only other choice is a hot dog, but you'll rarely see anyone eating one. It's all about hamburgers here.
It's usually crowded around lunchtime (the locals eat here) and on Saturdays in summer.
