Flea Market Tabletop
with Rachel Ashwell
July 25, 1998

Rachel Ashwell, creator of the Shabby Chic style of home furnishings and author of Shabby Chic and Rachel Ashwell’s Shabby Chic Treasure Hunting and Decorating Guide, relied on a childhood spent combing England’s flea markets and her vast experience as a Hollywood set designer when she created the highly successful Shabby Chic style and line of home furnishings.

Using Rachel’s tips for recognizing the hidden beauty in unusual objects anyone can turn an ordinary table setting into something truly extraordinary. Slip on some comfortable shoes, grab a tote bag and head out (early!) on a Sunday morning for a few hours of strolling through a nearby flea market or antique mall. That "just right" second-hand gem for your table is there for discovering. Following are a few of the locations listed in Rachel’s book Shabby Chic Treasure Hunting and Decorating Guide.
