Extraordinary Dining with the Kentucky Department of Parks
July 16, 2005
Folks don't go to state park dining concessions expecting extraordinary food. The exception is in Kentucky. There, the park dining rooms are a showcase for outstanding Kentucky produce.
Farmers in all parts of the Commonwealth sell their fresh fruits and vegetables directly to park chefs who develop their menus to reflect local dishes, rather than standard formula fare. Farmers and dining room guests both benefit.
In addition, Kentucky artists are featured in the background music played in the dining rooms, and Kentucky arts and crafts are displayed. For more information log on to www.parks.ky.gov or e-mail Chef Bob Perry at bobr.perry@ky.gov.
