Polehna's Meat Market

On a stroll around Czech Village, a charming street of old shops and food places around the corner from the National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library, Lynne discovered Polehna's Meat Market.
The folks here have been doing it all themselves for generations: great wieners, bacon, sausages, and bologna, all at prices from another decade. But it was the homemade Dutch Loaf—hot, juicy and perfectly seasoned—that put Lynne over the edge. You can order online, but she went for instant gratification and took home an embarrassing amount of the stuff.
Other stops in the village included Sykora Bakery for kolache and good goulash to go. The cabbage rolls and goulash at Zindrick's Czech Restaurant are not to be missed, but Lynne says you can skip the filled pastas.
